Stapleton Kearns, who is seldom without his brush, explains, "Painting is about expressing visual ideas, usually with beauty in mind. Beauty being one of the driving forces behind everything." Kearns' dynamic paintings are filled with rich, poetic emotion. Born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota, Kearns moved to the East Coast for classical nineteenth century instruction from R.H. Ives Gammel at the Fenway Studios in Boston.

An elected member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Kearns also served as president of the Rockport Art Association for five years. Twice, his paintings have been included in the Biannual Show at the National Academy of Design in New York City. He is a member of the New England Plein Air Painters. Stapleton Kearns now resides on Cape Ann, continuing his work and maintaining an instructional and informational blog. Visit Stapleton Kearns Fine Art Gallery at 59 Main Street in Rockport!
