Cape Ann Plein Air 2023 Artists
Six Cape Ann Plein Air 2023 artists are participating in the Rockport Art Association and Museum’s National Exhibition this year! This high-level show of art from all over the country is open from September 30 to November 5, 2023.
Be sure to stop by to see the show, including paintings by CAPA 2023 artists, David Bareford, John Caggiano, Susan Lynn, Ann Larsen, Jonathan McPhillips, and Charles Newman.
Our event also matches with the RAA&M National Exhibition, so you can enjoy both at once. On October 12, come to Rockport from 5 to 9 pm for a night of nocturne painting. Our artists will paint the night scene in their own ways. The RAA&M National Exhibition will be open and have refreshments all night. Don’t miss this chance to see some of the best plein air paintings and meet the artists.
Cape Ann Plein Air 2023 Judges
PATRICK LEE, Entry Juror
-
Patrick Lee takes a unique creative approach to making paintings in the studio and en plein air. He draws heavily on intuition and imagination to develop an image, often altering the drawing, color, and spatial relationships to create a mood and express a feeling about the subject. This often leads to strong elements of abstraction and suggestion in his work, rather than explicit detail. This gives the viewer an opportunity to connect with each piece in their own way, inviting them to let their own imaginations make personal associations and connections.
